Staying Healthy This Cold, Flu, and COVID-19 Season
As we enter another season of colds, flu, and COVID-19, it is important to use every tool available to stay healthy. Vaccines play a critical role, but everyday habits also help protect ourselves and our communities.
In Massachusetts, everyone six months and older is eligible for the updated 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine, which is available at pharmacies, community health centers, local health departments, and doctors’ offices.
Vaccines are most effective when combined with healthy daily habits:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least twenty seconds.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
- Stay home if you feel unwell.
- Clean high-touch surfaces regularly, like doorknobs and countertops.
By pairing vaccination with these simple habits, we can reduce the spread of illness and keep our communities healthier this season.
If you are unsure whether you are due for a dose, your primary care provider can provide guidance. If you are experiencing symptoms and need medical care, start by contacting your PCP. If they are unavailable, urgent care centers provide a convenient and cost-effective alternative.
