Need an MRI? Here’s how to save on costs

If your doctor orders an MRI, how do you know where to go?

Most of us want care that is both convenient and affordable, but where you choose to have your MRI done can make a big difference in what you pay out of pocket.

If you choose an independent radiology center from the approved list (see below), the copay will be waived (after the deductible has been met). Plan B members will be responsible for 10% of the MRI cost.

If you choose to have your MRI performed at a hospital facility that does not have an independent radiology center, you will be responsible for the $250 copay (after the deductible has been met). Plan B members will be responsible for the $250 copay plus 10% of the MRI cost.

To find a lower-cost option, use the BCBSMA Find a Doctor tool and search for “Technical Diagnostic Imaging Centers” near you: member.bluecrossma.com/fad. Or call the Fund Office with any questions at 781-272-1000.
