Staying Active

Published On: January 22, 2024

With temperatures below freezing, staying active involves creativity and a warm hat. It’s important to keep yourself moving through the winter, whether you prefer the great outdoors or staying close to the hearth. Here are some ideas to help you stay active this winter:

  1. Enjoy Nature Walks

Be sure to plan ahead by checking the weather and putting on extra layers. You can find local walking paths and trails in your community using your town’s parks and recreation information. Bring a camera – who knows what critters you might see out there?

  1. Create an At-Home Workout

Some days, it’s just too cold. You can still keep your body moving with exercises indoors. Push-ups, crunches, squats, and sit-ups are all exercises that you can do without any additional equipment. You can also find great workout videos online, from dance instruction to weight lifting there’s something available for everyone.

  1. Make use of the Winter Weather

In Massachusetts, we are lucky that snow makes our winter temperatures worthwhile. Put on the right gear and head outside to enjoy it. Build a snowman, have a snowball fight, bring out your favorite sled, or lay down and make a snow angel.

You can always invite friends and family to join you. Sticking together and supporting each other will help you stay active and healthy this winter. Have fun and don’t hesitate to reach out to MLBF with any questions!
