What Is a Reciprocity Agreement?
The Massachusetts Laborers’ Benefit Funds covers all of your work that’s done in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. But for any of your work that’s done outside of those states, you may need what’s called a reciprocity agreement.
A reciprocity agreement ensures that your hours are returned back to our Fund Office to make sure they’re counted towards your Health & Welfare, Pension, and Annuity benefits.
If you do work outside MA, NH, ME, and VT, you must contact the Fund Office in that jurisdiction and let them know that you belong to a local covered by MLBF. That Fund Office will help you determine if there is a reciprocity agreement in place.
If you have any questions about reciprocity agreements or need assistance, you can always call the Fund Office at 781-272-1000.
